About this tool
Stress-Test Your FI Plan
Find the conditions that would make your plan vulnerable, and the choices that would actually help.
This Toolkit assessment is a decision stress test, not a retirement-date calculator. It examines your household’s spending layers, resources, dependable nonwork income, one healthcare stress, and one backup spending plan against a small published set of adverse environments.
U.S. households and U.S. dollars only. The calculator uses U.S. federal tax, Social Security, healthcare, inflation and market assumptions. A result should not be interpreted for another country merely by converting the currency.
What the assessment shows
- Whether your resources fund Core Lifestyle and Chosen Lifestyle without paid work under reference assumptions.
- Which specific stresses put either lifestyle or the ending reserve under pressure.
- How much protection comes from a backup spending plan the household would realistically use.
- Which one uncertainty or vulnerability deserves attention before the decision is final.
It will not give a precise retirement date, a universal safe withdrawal rate, or a claim that your retirement has a literal probability of success.
This tool tests a spending plan; it does not assign an FI stage. The FI Stage Assessment considers behavioral boundaries across four dimensions.
